What is it and why should I do it?

You will design contemporary objects using a range of industrial materials and techniques to create functional or aesthetic products.

You will reflect on Australian makers' practices with consideration to choosing sustainable materials, and the selection of a variety of industrial and traditional materials.

What will I do in class?

This subject will focus on a semester length design project, with all components contributing to your final Product Design work. This content will include preparation tasks to explore and develop potential ideas, including design drawings within a folio.

You will explore and produce your resolved design using various techniques and materials.

A self-evaluation will be completed at the end of your task, reflecting on the making process and how you may improve the design further if produced again.

As a student designer you will investigate the practices of other contemporary makers and their sustainable practices to write a report on your chosen maker.
