Two separate series’ that encapsulate the ideas which I explored through out the past two years  of VCE. As specified in my exploration proposal I aimed to focus on the blur between the real and unreal, through surrealism as both an idea and movement. Using a long shutter speed and large aperture in both series’ they share a similar blurred effect which obscures the subject. The first two images using studio lighting are much warmer compared to the natural lighting of a dark bathroom. All images revolve around my obsession with surrealism namely as a form of expression for women. In all photographs I use myself as the subject as a result of the years circumstances as well as a way to have control of my own movements but less of the cameras. Using self portraiture I was able to elude to female surrealists of the 20s and 30s and explore the perception of the body obscured by steam, light, form and movement.
