Proposed SHAPE 2024 Year 10 Electives
- Boot Camp
- Students will participate in individual and group challenges that build on the idea that students can achieve extra ordinary things if given extraordinary opportunities. The program consists of high intensity and challenging activities aimed to improve individual performance, teamwork and leadership skills. This subject is suitable for all fitness levels.
- Coaching
- Students will complete an AIS Online Coaching Course, to develop the physical and interpersonal skills required for administering sports training lessons
- Students will collaborate in groups and deliver Coaching Sessions to the PHSC junior cohort, before going out to local Primary Schools (and possibly Redmond House.) to deliver content
- Students will be asked to prepare, deliver, critique and modify these sessions across the semester
- Students will research coaching styles and create a profile of an elite coach, which they will present to the class
- Phys Ed
- Area of study 1 students will participate in practical activities such as Touch Rugby, European Handball and complete theory based on Anatomy.
- Area of Study 2 students will develop and participate in their own individual training program.
- Sports Academy
- Sport based off what is offered at Interschool sports for that Semester.
- Semester 1: Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball, AFL, Soccer, Netball, Badminton.
- Semester 2: Table tennis, Basketball, Hockey, Futsal
- Recreation - Out and About
- This subject aims to develop social and interpersonal skills and improve physical fitness/health by using community facilities to engage with activities not offered at school such as rockclimbing, surfing, bike riding.
