What is it and why should I do it?

This subject explores the possibilities of textiles, fabrics and fibres. Fabrics and textiles are critical for human survival, safety, and cultural expression. Studying textiles unlocks a unique intersection of tactile creativity, cultural history, and science. It encourages students to apply problem solving skills and project manage their learning.

What will I do in class?

Students will use a range of fabrics and textiles to create projects beyond garments and clothing. Students can expect to explore weaving, natural dying and soft sculpture. Students will learn to operate and use a sewing machine safely creating a range of products and items. Students should come with an open-mind to explore new things.
