What is it and why should I do it?

In Fine Art Photography you will learn to create photographs like a professional photographer. Using the latest digital photographic equipment; mirrorless cameras, DSLR cameras, studio lighting systems, editing in both Lightroom and Photoshop and printing on a large format printer to create a folio of photographs to be exhibited at the Middle School exhibition.

What will I do in class?

You will explore a range of digital image making as you compose your photographs. All tasks will be dependent on your interests and open to different interpretations. You will explore the traditions of photographs and attend several photographic exhibitions during the semester.

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

Participate in classwork and discussion. 

RLT 1 – Digital Visual Art Journal

  • During the semester you will keep a detailed record of your studio production in a Digital Visual Arts Journal.
  • Collecting images of inspiration is important in developing ideas and needs to be recorded.
  • Developing visual art language.

RLT 2 – Camera Operations

  • You will explore a range of photographic techniques to develop their skills.

RLT 3 – Folio of Finished Artwork 

  • You will design and develop a series of images around a self-directed task.
  • After you have completed your folio you will write a reflection on your work.

RLT 4 – Analysis of Artwork

  • During the semester you will analysis a series of photographs
  • Write a review of an exhibition you have seen.
