What is it and why should I do it?

Graphic Design is the practice of communicating visually. In this subject you will explore branding design, typography, historic design styles and illustration. You will engage in a design process to produce creative solutions that respond to design briefs.

What will I do in class?

The subject involves a lot of independent work on practical tasks.

You will:

  • Employ and document a design process based on the Double Diamond model
  • Learn how to manipulate type and imagery when designing for specific contexts, purposes and audiences
  • Combine manual and digital methods, media (with a focus on Adobe Illustrator) and materials with design elements and principles
  • Participate in critiques, both delivering and receiving constructive feedback
  • Analyse factors that impact design decisions, including economic, technological, environmental, cultural and social influences
