| Emi Habgood Zanikanie ArtStoneware and mixed media
My final artwork consists of three different jars that have been painted and inside contain ceramic leaves, skulls and flowers. The jars are painted with Polish patterns that were inspired by wycinanki folk craft and Boleslawiec pottery art that I have. The skulls on the inside of the jars explore death and the inevitable nature of fading away/becoming extinct. I have tied this together with the purity of outside nature through the use of the leaves, flowers and gumnuts as nature fades away around so delicately. The name comes from the Polish word zanikanie which translates to fading away/decay. |
