Welcome to the Princes Hill Secondary College Policy Communication page. School policies are most effective where they are accessible and appropriately communicated. Effective communication methods will vary, depending on the target audience (for example staff, parents/carers, students, the broader community). Listed below are the various communication channels that are utilised to share our policies with various stakeholders and the school community.

Communication Channels

The following communication channels are used at Princes Hill Secondary College to inform our stakeholders and school community about school policies. The Communications Grid link above then describes which channels are used for each policy.

The Princes Hill Secondary College website has a link to our Approved Policies home page under the "About PHSC" menu item. The Approved Policies home page contains a context specific listing of approved policies. The listing will be selective showing relevant policies for the following user groups:

  • Internal (Staff and Students)
  • Staff Only

The relevant users will only see the policies that are set for publication to that audience, with the Staff and Student context provided by sign in to the PHSC School Wiki using their standard school credentials.

The school has a Staff Handbook (only accessible by staff) that included a section listing specific school policies. These policies are particularly relevant to staff.

When Staff are inducted to the school they undergo and induction process which directs them to a specific listing of important policies that help familiarise them with the operation and culture of the school.

Weekly Staff Meetings are held at Princes Hill Secondary College and policies are regularly scheduled for presentation with the broader staff group. Staff are reminded of the objectives of the policy, the key implementation strategies, what role staff have with regard to the policy and where to find further information. A schedule is maintained of which policies have been presented at each meeting and they are explicitly linked on the Meeting Minutes.

The School Council have a Policy Review Database (accessible to School Council and staff only) where draft policies are posted and each council member is encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions. All feedback is captured electronically and the policy team and policy author respond then respond to the comments and update the policy as required. Various policies are then regularly shared with the School Council as recorded in the minutes for school council meetings.

A school newsletter is regularly published for our community and policies are scheduled for publication in the newsletter to help educate and raise awareness.

The school releases an annual report and includes a listing of specific policies.

The school Enrolment Process ensures that new students and families to the school receive a listing of relevant and important policies on acceptance to the school.

The Student Handbook contains a section listing policies that are particularly important and relevant to our students.

Our Student Council run regular forums and policies are included in the agenda to ensure students are aware of the drivers and implementation details of policies that are particularly relevant. Students are also engaged through the drafting process for consultation on the content of our policies and the Student Forum is a means for gathering input and feedback.

The school runs a number of year level specific Information Evenings. A specific group of policies that are important for parents to be aware of are included in the materials presented. Parents are also directed to our Approved Policies database where they can locate all our policies.
