In this class we cover three main areas. We start with the dimensions of health and study the factors which contribute to the health of individuals and communities. The second area focuses on drugs and decision making. We research different drugs and ensure that students have an understanding of the risk factors and consequences. We also debate social issues which surround drugs in our society. A harm-minimisation approach is taken here. Our third focus is on love, sex and relationships. We delve into what makes a healthy relationship, discuss issues of gender and sexuality and explicitly look at consent.
Students will be involved in a lot of group activities, discussions, worksheets, presentations and completion of student workbooks.
