What is it and why should I do it?

In Photography you will learn to create photographs like a professional photographer. Using the latest digital photographic equipment; mirrorless cameras, DSLR cameras,  editing in both Lightroom and Photoshop and printing on a large format printer to create a folio of photographs to be exhibited at the Middle School exhibition.

What will I do in class?

You will explore a range of ways to approach visual story telling through photography.  All tasks will be dependent on your interests and open to different interpretations. You will explore the traditions of street photography and attend several photographic exhibitions during the semester.

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

Participate in classwork and discussion. 

RLT 1 – Visual Art Journal

• During the semester you will keep a detailed record of your studio production in a Visual Arts Journal.
• Collecting images of inspiration is important in developing ideas and needs to be recorded.
• Developing visual art language.

RLT 2 – Camera Operations

• You will explore a range of photographic techniques to develop your skills.

RLT 3 – Folio of Finished Artwork 

• You will design and develop a series of images around a story and the relevant subject matter.
• After you have completed your photographs you will write a text to accompany it.

RLT 3 – Analysis of Artwork

• During the semester you will analysis a series of photographs who specifically focus on story telling with their work.
• Write a review of an exhibition you have seen.
