My two artworks explore the themes of orphic cubism – a 20th century art movement inspired by cubism but with emphasis on the use of vibrant colour. The ideas behind these works was to showcase the relationship between colour and emotion; the way in which colours evoke certain sensations – such as how blue is often linked with feeling of calmness. To make the work, the material used was acrylic yarn using a technique called fair isle. Fair isle knitting involves using multiple colours at once in a single row to create different shapes and patterns.
