A collection of self

Acrylic on wooden board

I am exploring how space can be distorted and harmony created through the absence of a singular context that brings together a range of self-portraits that aim to give image to an internal sphere. The use of spilled paint reflects an inability to hold oneself together. By expressing an invisible overlap, the boundaries of self are externalised, in a mapping and retracing of emotion and memory. By reversing the silhouette of these forms, I create the premise for a public introspection. I aim to create a space in which the original context is removed and replaced by a void that can symbolise both an unlimited potential of space and my own feelings of claustrophobia. This is the space I inhabit.
