2021 Studio Arts

Hugo Evans

My artworks are an exploration of the impacts of major current events across the world over the last two years, more specifically the world’s reaction to the global lockdowns and how it felt to be part of a major historical event. The first artwork focusing on the shared experience and the second more individual. Through a long process of learning to use Adobe Premiere with no prior experience, I made use of a mixture of digital and traditional materials to create the effect of digital objects like photos and videos having physical properties. Resources includes pieces from the film Akira (1988) Mario-kart (2005) and photography by Josh Rountos.
