What is it and why should I do it?

Students will explore the material of glass and learn to safely use specialist equipment with the process of  Kiln Formed glass. This is the process of manipulating cold glass and then kiln firing your final design piece.

Students will be involved in a variety of glass techniques to produce a range of pieces from platters and bowls to sculpture and decorative art works. 

What will I do in class?

You will be working with sheet glass. Most of the tasks have design work, with the main focus of the course on practical workThis includes the following techniques: cutting, fusing, slumping, glass casting. Students will document and evaluate your design and production processes in your sketchbook.

Students will be assessed on work produced, your sketch book and a written project on visual analysis and response to glass design pieces.
