Paris TorosidisCollaboration of life Ink, gouache, grey lead pencil, impasto, water colour, fine liner, acrylic paint, white out I went through an immense process to complete this artwork. First and foremost, I wanted to include the constructs of rural & urban landscapes to see how they play out in one work. I wanted a piece that expresses the idea of perspective and how at one point of view, this is how it’s displayed. I worked on tone and the effects of light to see how an ideal aspect of realism can be portrayed in my artwork. I worked with buildings for both cultural and contemporary signifiers, alongside formations of trees to portray the variety that nature provides. Texture was also a preoccupation, to convey how as the world displays such abstract objects and materials that we then manipulate. I wanted to express the divide between these two areas; of nature and architectural structures, to convey how in one piece they commemorate each other. I’m also interested in the emotions that these forms can potentially evoke for viewers, as well as an embryonic imagination of what’s beyond what we see. This work was greatly inspired by growth and change across time in response to evolution and technological advancements as well as the perfection of structures that sustain our lives and having to work within the natural environment that is provided to us. I wanted to also underline the idea that yes, we can have structures and a beautiful natural environment. But when will we give back to nature and provide the sustainability it deserves and finally take care to preserve the implausible meaning of life. |
