In Drama you will devise and present ensemble and solo performances based on different performance styles and ideas. In Unit 1 the focus is on researching different styles, ideas and themes and then  devising ensemble work as part of a group as well as a solo piece. In Unit 2 the focus is on Australian Theatre and you will research and devise a performance that will examine ideas about Australian Culture, History, Theatre and Identity.

In both units you will read a script and then see the script in a professional performance (as an excursion during the day or in the evening) .

Classes are a mix of practical, lecture and group work and will involve research (dramaturgy) brainstorming, collaborating, rehearsing and designing and applying production roles including Set, Costume, Props, Sound and Lighting. You will perform in class as Work in Progress, for Assessment and for n outside class audience.

You will complete a minimum of two hours homework per week - recording your ideas, research and notes about development of your work in class but you will also create one class presentation per unit outside of class.

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

You will create an ensemble and a solo performances, complete two written SACs and an end of unit exam.
