What will I do in class?
Students will design,and make several wood products within their interest area.
Assessment will be based on an Investigation on current designers, a research assignment on timber growth and sustainability, design brief and workshop drawings, and the satisfactory completion and evaluation of your products.
Each student will require a 2H pencil and a sketch book for designs, plans, notes and evaluation.
This subject will focus on a semester length design project, with all components contributing to your final Product Design work. This content will include preparation tasks to explore and develop potential ideas, including design drawings within a folio. You will explore and produce your resolved design using various techniques and materials, including using the Adobe Suite to help realise your design ideas.
As a student designer you will investigate the practices of other contemporary makers and their sustainable practices, drawing on these designers for inspiration.

How do I satisfactorily complete this unit?
All folio, practical work and the evaluation will be completed productively during class time. Students will use home time to allow for thinking and considering of various design considerations for your project. There maybe one assessment task set as homework.
