| VCAL In 2021 the Princes Hill Secondary College VCAL class took part in a double session once a week in the art room. We started by experimenting with a range of materials to develop ideas and direction for artwork which would form the VCAL exhibition at the end of term three. The students then branched off into working on projects in whatever media they were attracted to using a range of materials. The class showed great maturity in managing tools and equipment in a range of media in a range of rooms at the school. Due to COVID the planned exhibition could not take place in the corridor at school as we had hoped. Many of the students completed their projects at home, turning Zoom sessions into studio time. The final work shown here shows a range of approaches exploring the ideas and concerns of the PHSC VCAL art class of 2021. From the skilfully rendered photographs of Shreyash Wilkinson to the large paintings and collage of Mara Nicolini. From the linocut explorations of Isobel Coat and Luca Martinucci to the delicate drawings of Mia Diaz, Arki Shortt and Annabel Dwyer. From the ceramic experiments of Anakie Walker and Isobel Coat to the sculptural drawing of Bunny McCracken to the thoughtful paintings of Sarsha Succi-Williams and Joe Lewin I want to say a huge congratulations to the whole class for getting through a difficult year and for making something beautiful. |
