What is it and why should I do it?

In Ceramics you will develop 2-3 folios of work that allow you to express your own ideas and interests within a range of areas of our study. You will explore a variety of methods of ceramic production. Works will be presented in a series that express meaning s and messages you explore in your folio.

What will I do in class?

You will be archiving your inspiration and the development of your ideas and themes in your visual diary. We will produce developmental work that will prepare you for the design and construction your own self-directed series of works.

How much homework will I have?

When there is an assessment of your visual diary due, you will be advised to follow up on the classwork at home to ensure your work is organised and annotated to reflect your learning. There is one major written assessment in the semester, this analysis task may require you to do some additional work at home prior to final assessment. The practical art making tasks are completed during class time using the materials and equipment in the ceramics studio.

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

Participate in all set work and complete your analysis assignment on the work of two contemporary ceramic artists you select from the examples provided to the class.

Task 1 Narrative Project/ Wellness Deity

  • Completed series of 3D sculptures in response to a narrative topic of your choice that could extend into concepts of wellness.
  • Your plans and finished artwork/s will be reflected on to address ceramic terms and visual language as well as personal insights.
