What is it and why should I do it?

In Sculpture you will learn and create a folio of three dimensional artworks. Using a range of materials and techniques such as casting in wax/glass/clay or other chosen materials. You will develop technical skills for additive and subtractive sculpting to create works that will be exhibited at the Middle School exhibition.

What will I do in class?

You will explore a range of making processes as you create three dimensional artworks in a range of materials. All tasks will be dependent on your interests and open to different interpretations. You will explore sculpture as an expression of your ideas and investigate other artist’s works and attend several exhibitions during the semester

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

Participate in classwork and discussion. 

RLT 1 – Visual Art Journal

  • During the semester you will keep a detailed record of your studio production in a Visual Arts Journal.
  • Collecting images of inspiration is important in developing ideas and needs to be recorded.
  • Developing visual art language.

RLT 2 – Technical Production

  • You will explore a range of making techniques to develop skills in casting, modelling and 3D construction.

RLT 3 – Folio of Finished Artwork 

  • You will design and develop a finished sculpture around a self-directed task.
  • After you have completed your folio you will write a reflection on your work.

RLT 4 – Analysis of Artwork

  • During the semester you will analysis a series of sculptural works.
  • Focus on understanding artistic intention and exploration of ideas in the creation of works and in showing them.
  • Write a review of an exhibition you have seen.
