What is it and why should I do it?
In Drama, you will be a playwright and / or part of a playwriting group to develop and write your own scenes and an ensemble play for perfomance based on ideas we explore in class. In Theatre you will read, research and develop a performance of a script by a playwright (other than you. ) You may choose to act or to work 'back stage' or in design areas exclusively. Many students choose a combination of acting and one design roleThroughout role. Throughout the semester you will develop your acting perfomance and design skills, rehearse and apply design production roles including Lighting, Sound, Costume, Makeup, Promotion, Props and Set Design to produce a performance for an outside class audience.
What will I do in class?
You will participate in and run warm ups and games. You will work in groups to develop ideas for production roles other than Acting and Direction. You will conduct research, work on scriptwriting and script editing, trial ideas, promote your show, rehearse and perform. You will also attend some outside class rehearsals
How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?
You will be assessed on your participation and completion of a written / multimedia research task, a folio demonstrating your ideas and work in Acting, Direction, Set, Costume, Props, Makeup or Promotion and a written / multimedia reflection task.
