What is it and why should I do it?
This is an extension* to Year 9 Music: Performance, where students change their focus to creativity in performance, with an emphasis on improvisation and interpretation. Students will continue to develop their ensemble skills with a focus on musical cues, non-verbal cues, and musically responding to other performers. Students will also learn rehearsal management techniques and how to structure/arrange music to suit how their band wants to interpret and perform selected works.

initially spend 3 - 4 weeks workshopping class pieces and trialling different band settings before dividing into 3 - 4 bands in order to prepare a set of music (4 - 6 musical works) to be performed at an end of semester gig, held at the Bergy Bandroom on Sydney Rd.
*However, students can take this subject regardless of whether they have completed Year 9 Music: Performance.
What will I do in class?
Classes will feature lots of practical based tasks, as well as time dedicated to the study/analysis of key musical knowledge, skills, and techniques required to perform to a high standard.
