What is it and why should I do it?

This course will enable students to be creative through a study of the ‘Steampunk’ movement in literature, film making, design and art. Students will be encouraged to be creative in designing and making objects from unwanted, reusable and second-hand materials. This will be facilitated by working with metals and related materials found at home.

In this subject students will learn about:

  • the technical and creative aspects of photography, including how to use digital cameras and other photographic equipment

  • how composition, lighting, colour and focus can be used to create meaning in images

  • how editing software can be used to enhance, manipulate, and refine photographic works

  • different photographic styles and techniques used by contemporary and historical photographers

Students will be required to:

  • research and analyse the work of photographers to inform their own ideas

  • plan and produce a series of photographs based on set themes and concepts

  • edit and present photographic works using industry-standard software

  • document their creative process and reflect on their technical and artistic development
