The themes, ideas and techniques used for my final works centre around the exploration of dream realities and how they can be displayed in a digital manner. Dreams are defined as “a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep”. The mind becomes limitless while we sleep, and any surreal version of reality can be experienced whether it is realistic or not. Magical realism and surrealism within dreamscapes both informed and inspired the development of these digital photographs. The two separate artworks are connected through this theme despite the different subject matter; one with a series of tableaus in natural landscapes and the second of mundane photomontages containing smaller images representative of the constantly changing scenarios our subconscious mind creates. The traditional artist, Dora Maar, and contemporary artist, Tracey Moffatt, both inspired me with their own practices for photomontage and tableaus and with their consideration of similar themes to mine. ‘Oceans in Her Head’ Inkjet print on Ilford Pearl paper
