What is it and why should I do it?

You will use a variety of resist materials, like metal , wood and related materials, to create functional and aesthetic products.

This course aims to develop a variety of practical skills and the understanding of design, from idea to production. You will reflect on Australian makers' practices with consideration to choosing sustainable materials, and the selection of a variety of industrial and traditional materials. Students will explore the characteristics and properties of a variety of resist materials through their project, whilst learning the safe and correct use of hand and some power tools.

What will I do in class?

This subject will focus on a semester length design project, with all components contributing to your final Product Design work. This content will include preparation tasks to explore and develop potential ideas, including design drawings within a folio. You will explore and produce your resolved design using various techniques and materials, including using the Adobe Suite to help realise your design ideas.

How do I satisfactorily complete this unit?

All folio, practical work and the evaluation will be completed productively during class time. Students will use home time to allow for thinking and considering of various design considerations for your project. There maybe one assessment task set as homework.
