What is it and why should I do it?
This subject is an introduction to VCE Drama and Theatre Studies. In the first term, you will use stimulus to write, develop and perform your own ensemble production and create a solo performance. In the second term you will read a script, research, develop, rehearse and apply stagecraft such as Lighting, Sound, Costume, Makeup, Promotion, Props and Set Design to produce a performance for an outside class audience. You will also attend a professional Theatre performance to inspire and extend your ideas and practice.
What will I do in class?
You will participate in and run warm ups and games. You will work in groups to develop ideas for production roles other than Acting and Direction. You will conduct research, work on script writing and script editing, trial ideas, promote your show, rehearse and perform. You will also attend some outside class rehearsals
How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?
You will be assessed on your participation and completion of a written / multimedia research task, a folio demonstrating your ideas and work in Acting, Direction, Set, Costume, Props, Makeup or Promotion and a written / multimedia reflection task. You will also complete a Performance Analysis on a Theatre production that you attend.
