| Matilda Evans ‘Spectrum’ Digital Photography My folio explores the codes of photography, primarily expressionistic lighting, to produce vibrant colours displayed on the models’ faces and create a painted light effect behind them. I was able to alter my camera settings to achieve the painted light effect by changing shutter speed, aperture and constantly swapping from auto focus to manual focus to maintain focus on the subject while in complete darkness before taking the photo. The process involved keeping the model perfectly still while the photo was being taken and waving a coloured light behind them in the desired pattern while having the shutter speed set to 8-10 seconds, allowing the light behind them to be captured by the lens as if being painted. The editing used on the photos was minimal and was mainly to brighten up the model’s faces, remove background objects and increase the vibrance of the colours. |
