This class will have a blend of practical and theory classes. There will be one theory session a week will focus on knowledge and skills needed to safely participate in the outdoors as well as explore many different outdoor environments. Our practical sessions will take up the majority of our class time and will be made up of school based activities such as trangia stove licence, tent set up/ pack up, orienteering and team building activities as well as a range of short or day excursions. Excursions include but not limited to surf lessons at URBNSURF, rock climbing, ice skating and walking tracks to national and local parks. These classes are done in preparation for our end of year Outdoor Education Camp at our Mirambah Mirimbah campus.
How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?

- Participation in all practical and excursion based activities. All students are expected to participate in all practical and excursion based activities including end of year camp, barring injury or legitimate reasons to not participate which will be discussed with your teacher.
- Risk vs Adventure Assessment. Completed during theory classes
- National Parks Assessment. Completed during theory classes
