What is it and why should I do it?

Year 9 Italian is all about continuing on your great journey to becoming a proficient Italian speaker! Along the way you will also learn more about what it means to be an Italian and develop a deeper understanding of Italian culture and lifestyle.

What will I do in class?

Through a variety of text types you will explore the following topics:

• Daily Routine
• Health and Fitness
• Different types of Italian dwellings
• Getting around Italy
• How to shop in Italy
• Italian fashion
• Talking about a night out (using the present perfect tense!)

In addition, you will also learn about the history of Italy - Ancient Rome, Medieval and Renaissance Italy as well as explore the different 'sagre' and other important Italian religious and historical 'feste' which are celebrated in this breathtakingly beautiful and culturally rich country of Italia!

How will I be assessed?

Classroom participation, completion of classroom activities and satisfactory completion of unit assessment tasks (listening, speaking, reading and writing skills)

Students are required to purchase the following: Ecco! due Student Book with Ebook and Ecco! due Activity Book, an annual subscription to the language computer program Education Perfect (to be purchased through Campion booksellers (PHSC booklist suppliers) prior to the beginning of the school year)
