What is it and why should I do it?
Students will learn and put into practise the fundamental principles of sport coaching, including the study studies of leadership, skill development , athlete systems, and various sports sciencesciences. In the learning context, elements of technical, tactical, and mental growth are examined in relation to both community sport and the developing athlete. Multiple areas of study lead into the VCE PE course.

Theory
Anatomy for Beginners. Students will study the human body with a focus on the musculoskeletal system. Areas covered in class are; functions of skeletal and muscular systems, major muscles and bones, connective tissue, anatomical movements, types of joints, muscle types and structure, bone types and structure, muscular contractions and muscle fibre types.
- initially complete an AIS Online Course, focused on developing the essential skills for Sports Coaching. This will include how to create a safe learning environment, develop and demonstrate strong leadership skills, the importance of organised training sessions and how to engage with young learners
- Students will design and submit an in-depth Lesson Plan for each of the sports they are coaching (1 per term)
- Develop and deliver an Oral Presentation on a coach of your choice. Coach can be for sports that are domestic, international, amateur or professional

How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?
Students As well as completing the four Learning Tasks on Compass, students will assist in coaching roles and volunteering at junior Sports days and community-based sports clubs.
What is it and why should I do it?
Middle School Physical Education provides students with the opportunity to learn about the human body, create training programs and also engage in physical activity on a weekly basis. This blend of practical and theory based study is closely aligned with Physical Education at the VCE level and gives students a strong base of knowledge for future study. Students who choose this subject will have opportunities to not only be active on a regular basis, but also explore how the body works and experience the impact of individual training programs. Students are expected to wear appropriate clothing, participate in practical classes, work cooperatively, satisfactorily complete theoretical and practical assessment.

Students will develop motor skills, understand rules, strategies and techniques, develop positive attitudes towards health and fitness. Students will also design and complete an individual training program based of fitness testing results.

Students will also explore training methods and principles to help shape their individual training program.
How do I satisfactorily complete the unit?
There are two major assessment tasks for Physical Education
Anatomy - Musculoskeletal test.
Training Program - Students design and complete a 6 week training program.
plus 10-12 sessions as a local primary school.
In addition to these tasks, students will be encouraged to develop their interpersonal and leadership skills throughout the semester. There is even the opportunity to coach local sports teams, with financial compensation on offer for most of these roles.. HideElements
