What is it and why should I do it?
Year 10 Standard Maths This course is the standard Australian Victorian Curriculum Maths course undertaken in Victorian schools.is a fast paced and rigorous maths subject. This subject prepares students for semester 2 Year 10 Methods Primer. This course is similar to the standard Australian Curriculum Maths course however it covers some topics in more depth and moves at a faster pace. The maths is a more formal and abstract than junior maths and your teachers will be a bit more pedantic and fussy about all the details. Precision matters in maths! In many cases we are looking at areas we have covered before, but we will go into more depth. This is a subject for students who like maths, feel it is one of their strengths and want to develop their skills in this area.General Primer. Topics such as Algebra, Measurement, Trigonometry and Linear Relations will be covered.
This subject is recommended for students with a Year a Year 9 Algebra Maths test average of 80% as well as an overall test average of 80%over 50%.
What will I do in class?
In most classes a new mathematical concept will be introduced and you will have time to discuss this and work through examples with your teacher and class mates. You will have some time to work on practise problems in class while asking your teacher for assistance. Most of the essential practise exercise work will need to be completed for homework. You would have at least 30 20 minutes of homework on each night you have maths class, with more over the weekend and leading up to assessments.

You will meet the Outcomes through your results on topic tests for each topic (6 – 7 4-5 topic tests per Unit, one about every 23-3 4 weeks), participation in class discussions, and completion of coursework.
