This course is great for people who wish to deepen their understanding of the modern world. If you enjoy learning about social and political movements and their impact on the world, then this is the course for you. Topics of study include Ideology and Conflict (e.g. Nazi Germany), Social and Cultural Change (such as the USA in the 20s and 30s), Competing Ideologies (like the Cold War) and Challenge and Change (e.g. Ending apartheid in South Africa &/or Israel & the Arab World). Completing this course will assist with your written and verbal communication, and help you to analyse current events and think critically about the world.

What will I do in class?

Lessons typically involve examining primary and secondary source materials, responding to questions verbally or in written form and working individually and in small groups. Focus will be spread across examining the content and continuing to develop your writing skills, particularly in regards to source analysis and essay writing.
