What is it and why should I do it?

English Language is a subject for students who like to study the connection between language and identity and want to challenge themselves. Topics covered include Informal and Formal texts, Language Variation and Australian Identity, Language Variation and Individual and Group identity. All these topics require comprehensive and consistent reading of textbooks and wider reading found in newspapers and online articles. The course builds on work done in Unit 1 & 2 English Language but is mainly new content. English language is about: grammar (word classes), linguistics, philosophy, history, sociology and the study of how contemporary language is always changing. There is a significant amount of Metalanguage that needs to be memorised and applied.

How much homework/study will I have?

All Unit 3 and 4 subjects require 3-5 hours of study per week.
