In 2020 the Princes Hill Secondary College VCAL class took part in a double session once a week in the art room. We started by experimenting with a range of materials to develop ideas and direction for artwork which would form the VCAL exhibition at the end of term three. The students then branched off into working on projects in whatever media they were attracted to using a range of materials. The class showed great maturity in managing tools and equipment in a range of media in a range of rooms at the school. Due to COVID the planned exhibition could not take place in the corridor at school as planned. The final work shown here shows a range of approaches exploring the ideas and concerns of the PHSC VCAL art class of 2020. From Tom Guarino’s skilfully rendered jewellery pieces and painting to Shreyash Wilkinson and Tom Smith’s beautiful photographic works to Mikey Stratidis thoughtful work in pencil to Asher Kerr and Nic Marchetti’s large scale spray paint works to the collaborative work of Summer Martin, Guiliano Acciarito and Alexander Moon. Congratulations to all involved.
